Construction has begun on the $438 million Shoalhaven Hospital Redevelopment.
New South Wales Health Minister - Ryan Park and Member for South Coast - Liza Butler have marked the major milestone with a sod turning at the new clinical services building.
Mr Park says when complete, the redeveloped hospital will provide emergency, critical and acute care, so that fewer patients will need to be transferred to hospitals in Wollongong and Sydney.
Construction of the new acute clinical services building is expecting to be completed in 2026.
